More Drama...

So, in my last post I told you all about our lame neighbors and how they called Animal Control. Well, the story gets even better. Not only did the crazy bitch call to complain about our pooch, she gave Animal Control the woman across the street's contact information (name/telephone/etc).

I won't go into the whole story of how we even found this out. In a nut shell, the officer called our neighbor across the street and she thought they had the wrong number until she figured it all out! There might be a war brewing. How very exciting in a lame, suburban kind of way!

So, not only is the next door nut case a weirdo, she is a coward and apparently a fraud. I wonder how much trouble she can get in for using someone else's name in a semi-legal matter? I hope it's a lot.

In response to the comments from my last post:
OGO - I think if there is an obvious reason to call Animal Control, like cats not being cared for and breeding like it's the end of the world, then by all means. I mean, pet owners should know better. BUT, it's always best to confront the people first, IF they are approachable. If not then I understand. Ours was just unwarranted and caught us completely off guard. And, I missed you too!

Sassy - you are too cute, and you're probably right! Those jerks...

Danjerus - A barking dog is one of the most grating things on earth. When Lucy barks, which is usually just when she hears something "alarming" outside, someone approaching our house, OR when the weirdo neighbors and their pooch are around, I want to murder her myself. Then I have to remind myself that I love the little bitch. Barking = annoying but guess what? The neighbors are gonna have to deal with it from now on because revenge is a bitch. A black little bitch named LUCY!

Chick - The stadium is very cool. If you ever make it down here to check it out I think you'll enjoy it. And yes, South East DC, better known as THE HOOD/THE GHETTO/SCARY/DON'T GO THERE, is looking better and better. It always makes you feel better when your city goes through a positive change!

This weekend we have a crab feast to go to and I can't wait. I also can't wait to sleep. I have been so sleepy this week. I think it's the heat. And I also plan to play in my garden. We now have TONS of tomatoes growing on all of the plants and lots of peppers popping up too! I added some dirt from my dad's compost pile. I like to call it Black Gold! I have a feeling it's going to add a nice little growth spurt to my garden. I was playing in it yesterday for about 10 minutes and managed to only get about 25 mosquito bites...how gross is that? I used Lucy's dog brush to scratch, you know, the kind with the little steel bristles!! I looked like I had flees. It was amusing but I just couldn't stop the damn itching. I guess I'm just delicious.

Anyway, I hope that everyone has a lovely weekend and enjoys some sunshine, oh and margaritas!

stuff...

Wow, I feel like I haven't posted in quite some time. I guess I really haven't. So, I'll start with this weekend. On Saturday we went to the Nat's game and sat about 4 rows behind home plate. It was kind of awesome. It was a perfect night out. Probably in the high 70's/low 80's and not a lick of humidity. A perfect night for a ball game, even if our team is horrendous!

On Sunday evening I went to a wedding of a former high school friend. There were over 400 guest there! And I thought my wedding was big...He is Pakistani so the event was quite interesting. It was really neat to see all of the women in their traditional garb. The beautiful fabrics with the elaborate beading and colors was just brilliant.

And the biggest news of the weekend is that our next door neighbors called animal control on us. YES, THEY CALLED ANIMAL CONTROL!!!!

On Sunday afternoon the pooch was out front on her run and hubby was hanging out with her. Suddenly hubby comes in to tell me that there is an animal control truck outside of our house. I thought maybe there was a stray fox running around and they came to alert us or something of that nature. I waited a few minutes then I thought, I better go see what's going on.

Once outside I listen to hubby speaking with the officer. Apparently our next door neighbor (they didn't tell us who called but we know who it is because they are fucking weirdo's) complained that, get this, they are "afraid of our dog"!!!! I'm sure when the officer pulled up he was expecting a growling, slobbering, scary big dog. Instead he got Lucy who sauntered over to him, tail wagging, butt shaking, and licked his hands clean!!!

He observed that our back yard is fenced and when she's in the front yard, Lucy is always either on her leash or on her run and assured us that there was no violation on our part. He also told us that no matter how "scared" our neighbors are of our dog, she has every right to be in HER yard whenever she wants. Until she attacks them, bites them or does something of that nature, which if you knew Lucy, you'd know just isn't going to happen unless you are physically attacking her mama, then they have nothing to "complain" about. Hubby later called animal control just to make sure that we had nothing to worry about and that no one was going to show up to take our pooch away and they assured us that we were 100% in the clear.

My problem is, who the hell calls animal control on their NEXT DOOR neighbors without ever talking to them about the situation first? I mean, I had no idea they were scared of Lucy. If I did, perhaps I could have accommodated them by making sure Lucy was inside when they take their dog out or what have you. I mean, nothing like building the bridge for neighbor relations! And what is your motive when you call animal control? Isn't that a last resort? Don't you call animal control when you want to get a dog taken away? The more I think about it the more pissed I get!

These assholes have a dog that they take out in their FENCED back yard with a LEASH ON! They NEVER take their dog for walks. Honestly, I feel bad for their pooch. Lucy barks incessantly when they are out at the same time because she wants SO badly to play with their dog but they refuse to let them "meet" and have a little sniff. I am almost certain that if they let that happen it would solve Lucy's barking problem. The funny thing is, they are the only people period that Lucy ever barks at. I guess she senses how much they suck. Dogs are pretty smart you know!

Anyway, it's on now. They have officially started a war. Instead of taking Lucy in when they're outside I plan to leave her out there and I hope she barks her face off. I mean, she's such a scary, scary dog. I think we'll change her name to KILLER!

Lucy

Today is our long legged little monster's birthday!!! That's right, Lucy is now one year old! My little baby is growing up so fast. I left her this morning with a big, juicy, meaty, raw ham bone to chomp on.

Our little pooch is really beginning to calm down. Maybe not to the naked eye but to hubby and I for sure. We can tell that her adolescent behaviors are getting a little less "violent". Not as much jumping, not as much craziness. But, one day she'll come into the room, plop down on the floor and have no energy to play. And we'll ask ourselves, "where did our crazy little puppy go?" So for now I will enjoy her every day and not concern myself with her puppiness. We sure do love our little bitch!

Our weekend was good. We had to make the rounds with all the dad's but believe me, we're not complaining. Some people aren't lucky enough to have one dad, let alone the 3 we have between us. Father's Day is always great because the women in the family do the cooking. And, no offense men, but when the women are cooking, you're in for some good grub (generally)!

We did brunch in the morning at my dad's house with all of the traditional breakfast goodies...YUM. And then for dinner with hubby's family we had ribs, lobster tails, and a ton of other yummy stuff. The hubby even made a specialty pomegranate punch that was SO tasty!

It was a great weekend all in all. Now it's Monday, booo! At least it's warm out and really, I have nothing to complain about (surprise, surprise). I hope you all had a great weekend too.

Friday, June 13, 2008

Yayy, it's Friday! I am looking forward to doing pretty much NOTHING this weekend, other than Father's Day festivities on Sunday, but that's easy stuff. Dad's are pretty easy.

Yesterday I met this little angel! She's up for adoption and my aunt is fostering her for the humane society. She is the complete opposite of our little Lucy. She doesn't jump, she doesn't scratch, she's so calm and sweet. And, the lucky person who adopts her will get a pup that is already potty trained, which, if you've ever had a new dog you know is one of the hard parts of the process! She was so sweet. I hope someone I know adopts her so I can go visit her!

Anyway, I have nothing on my plate. Nothing to report and nothing fun coming up to tell anyone about. Just looking forward to spending some quality time with my husband and my pooch this weekend. I hope everyone else is having a great Friday the 13th and I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

This morning Lucy and I had a little photo shoot in the front yard. She sat there looking pretty while I got attacked by mosquito's. It is really sick how many there are in my area and how quickly I get bitten up. I hate them and they're everywhere! They gross me out more than fly's or any other type of bug because I always think about the fact that they can spread diseases and those things LOVE me for some reason. I literally was outside for 5 minutes and came in with about 10 bites, maybe more. Anyway, here is the little princess looking all proper and beautiful:

I also got to check on my garden, which, just as Danjeruskurves once stated, "will grow like weeds", is doing just that! I had to cut the netting around the top of the tomato plants because they are literally growing through it and straining the plants. Every morning I come out and there is at least another inch or two of growth. It's amazing. By the end of the summer I might be hanging out with a mean giant that lives up in the clouds!

I also took some shots of the action going on in the garden. Looks like we have about 4 or 5 tomatoes coming in nicely. Some are going to be yellow and I'm excited about that. Yellow tomatoes are so yummy and home grown anything just tastes so much better. I also have about 4 cayenne peppers growing away. I can't believe how quickly they went from tiny little flowers to long, green peppers. I'm so excited for all of it. I just wish my basil wouldn't have drowned but I suppose I can just grow it in a pot on my front porch to A.) keep the mosquitos away, and B.) I can bring it in and out of the house depending on the weather so it will stay alive.

Okay, here are some boring pictures of my foliage. Try to contain your excitement:

Anyway, hope you all are having a great day. It's absolutely beautiful outside today. Low humidity and not a cloud in the sky. God I love the Spring/Summer! Hooray for global warming.

weekend

It was a beautiful weekend, other than the 900 degree temperatures.

On Friday evening the hubby and I headed to the beach. We met some of my family down there and had a nice evening. On Saturday we enjoyed a perfect day on the beach. The weather was nothing short of brilliant. No humidity, probably in the 80's, a cool breeze blowing and not a cloud in the sky.

Saturday afternoon we headed to a family graduation party out at my uncle's farm. We got to visit with his beautiful horses but let me tell you, once we left the cool ocean breezes and headed inland, the heat was almost unbearable. There wasn't a breeze to save your life. The temperatures in the sun were in the 100's and the humidity was stifling! Not sweating was not an option. It just poured out of everyone uncontrollably. But, it was still a lovely party and thankfully, they had a tent and a large industrial fan.

After the party, hubby and I headed back toward home but we made a pit stop for some delicious steamed crabs out on Kent Island first! They were so yummy. The restaurant we were at that is right on the bay was lovely. All of the "windows" consist of garage style doors so the air just flowed freely off the water. It was cool and relaxing.

After crabs we headed to pick up our pooch, who we missed terribly. That little bitch is so lovable, even if she really is trying to kill me. Since the bloody nose and broken finger/hand this month she decided to head butt me the other evening. I ended up with a cut on the bridge of my nose and a swollen nose/eye...I swear, if anyone didn't know I had a crazy pooch they would for sure think I was being beat. Anyone that does know me knows that if a man ever laid a finger on me I would chop his nuts off.

Yesterday I met the girls at the pool for our "book club and a tan" meeting. We talked about the book (Possessions by A.S. Byatt) for approximately 4 minutes. Then we drank mimosas, ate lots of yummy meats, cheeses, fruits and veggies, and sat in the pool with our drinks as we tried to stay cool in the unbearable heat. It was great!

When I took Lucy outside at about 7am this morning it was already sweltering outside. I tried to hang out in the sun, thinking it would feel great, and I had to get my butt into the shade. I also saw a deer jump so high over the fence, it looked like she was flying. It is kind of cool to see the wild life we have right behind our house when we're so close to the city. I love it, even though I feel bad because we're depleting their habitat, that's why we see them so frequently...

I hope everyone is staying cool and having a great Monday!

This morning I got to experience one of god's cruel jokes. The alarm clock was set for 5:15am but I woke up urgently having to pee at 5:02am. I was so sad as I got up and got ready while hubby and the pooch were all snuggled up and warm in bed.

It's now 2pm and the fact that I woke up so early is starting to hit me. I am really tired...I'm also a wimp and love sleeping. Man, I wish we had "nap time" at work! Maybe I'll move to Spain, don't they still have siesta's there?

So my finger that Lucy tried to rip off is still sore and it's crooked! I don't know how it wasn't broken but whatever. My knuckle is also a little screwed up. I am having trouble getting my wedding ring on and off. I think my finger may be jacked up for good.

One more day of this crazy, early starting work day and then I'm taking a half day on Friday to get my hair done. I haven't let my bosses know this yet but they'll have no choice in the matter.

Anyway, hope everyone is having a great day!

Tuesday, June 03, 2008

Pardon my language, but it is Fucking beautiful out today! When I left the house the sky was so blue, not a cloud in sight. The temperature was just about perfect, I don't think there is an ounce of humidity in the air. The smell of flowers and the spring breeze was all around me. I thought I felt a twinge of a "cold" coming on. Then I remembered that I had to work. Booo!

We have another huge set of meetings coming up tomorrow and Thursday at work and I have to be in my office to help set up no later than about 7am the next couple of days. OY! I'm dreading it. That also means that I probably have to get up at 5:30am in order to get here on time. I think this might constitute a day off, preferably Friday! I need to get my hair done and that might just have to be the day. And to be honest, I think I deserve it, don't you? Let's hope my bosses agree.

So, I've discovered a new store that I am completely in love with. The store is called World Market, have you heard of it? Does everyone have them in their area? They're awesome!! I even took the hubby with me and HE loves it, which if you are from this planet and know any men is pretty much unheard of, unless you're talking about a car parts store or sex shop...I don't know about yours, but my man doesn't list "shopping" as one of his favorite things to do.

So, I've been getting ad's for the World Market for at least a year or two until I finally discovered one in my area about 4 months ago. Since moving offices, I've now discovered that there is a location about 2 blocks away from me now and let me tell you, it's dangerous because not only do they sell everything I love, they also sell international beer and wine at a very reasonable price!! I've had to limit myself to a twice a month visit or I'll go broke.

I seriously get every gift I need to buy there, unique international foods, cool jewelry, yummy wines and beers, furniture, candles, stuff for the grill, stuff for the deck, stuff for the house, stuff for the pooch...Oh my god! It's never ending! They are like a more reasonably priced Pier 1, Pottery Barn, Home Goods and Target all thrown together with the addition of some great food and drink! If you haven't been, you must go. I just hope they are thriving when and if our house is ever done being renovated so I can get everything there! They have an amazing wood sleigh bed that would look great in my room for just $329!!! That same bed is probably $3,000 at Pottery Barn, just for the name.

Anyway, enough of my endless blabber about a store. You'd think I own stock in the place. Hmmm, maybe that's something to look into.

Okay, well, I hope that everyone has a lovely day! I need to go get some fresh air and enjoy some of this perfect weather that is so not gonna last!

M.I.A.

So, I have been missing in action lately!! I didn't realize it was going to be this bad. I had to take a class last week through work but it was held from 8:30am to about 6:30pm every day with no access to computer or telephone and let me tell you, it was really weird. I felt like I was completely removed from my world and had no communication with anyone. BUT, the class was fun and interesting. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot!

Unfortunately, I don't have anything to really report since I've been holed up, and anything I did have, my brain hasn't retained. So, here we are.

My tomato and pepper plants are starting to produce fruit ALREADY! I am so pumped. I have two little tomatoes on one plant and one on another. The other 3 plants don't have anything going on yet. And my cayenne pepper plant has 2 peppers growing. My basil has succumbed to the massive rain we've had and it drowned. However, my arugula, parsley, chives, rosemary, dill and mint are thriving! I'm so excited. I guess I have a green thumb.

My parents and two grandmother's came over yesterday for a little cook out and our Little Lucy did so well! She didn't maim any of our guests and even ended up falling asleep with her little head on one of my grandmother's feet. She's so cute and she is really starting to become a good girl. I knew she would, it just takes some time for some dogs to stop acting like a puppy all the time. Don't get me wrong, she's still a maniac and I'm sure this won't continue consistently, but it was nice to have a good day with the pooch and family for once with no real injuries...

Anyway, hope to get back into the swing of things this week and I plan to go read all of you now so I can catch up! Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!
