Dandy

Yes, I know...it's been a while. Jeez I don't even know what I've been doing with my time.

Let's see...I went on a second interview for the job I mentioned a while back and they said that they wanted to make me an offer. So, if all goes as planned and they agree with my terms and I agree to theirs, then I will start my new job on December 1st or whatever the first week of December is. So, that's good news.

I reupholstered a chair for my sister. It was hard work but it turned out really nice, if I do say so myself. Like an idiot I didn't take a picture but I figure she'll still be my sister for some time so I will post a picture once I take one.

The hubby and I had our annual Halloween party this past weekend and I have to admit a lot went into the preparation. I always seem to forget that part when I agree to have this party every year. Maybe that's where I've been all this time that I've been MIA...? I was a dandelion. I made my hat and then put the rest of the costume together. If any of you watch the show "Pushing Daisies" you will recognize the dandelion costume from a recent episode. That's where I got the idea.

I hate posting pictures of myself but I thought this one merited air time if you know what I mean. I also don't like to post pic's of other people without their permission so I'll just tell you about all of the other fabulous costumes that were in attendance.

We had, my favorite of the night, Thing 1 and Thing 2 from the Cat in the Hat (SO FREAKIN CUTE), we had Bonnie and Clyde, we had a LOT of pirates, male and female. We had Bret Farve, we had Michael Vick (yes, battered dog and all...), we had a Mario Brother, we had a Speed Racer, a Beer Wench, a Yin and Yang - don't even ask, a Power Puff Girl, The ghost of Elvis...and on, and on. And let me tell you, they were all top notch. And, with all fabulous parties, the booze was flowing, the music was blaring, along with a major dance party U.S.A. session at one point, there was fighting (the physical kind and it wasn't two men!) and even a puker! I would say it was a success.

We got to bed around 4am and we crashed hard. Even our poor little pooch slept until 10:30am the next day with no movement before then! We spent Sunday eating crappy food and never changing out of our pajamas. We even let the dog partake in some McDonald's - I know, I know...very bad, but she deserved it, she had a long night too!

Anyway, that's about it. The hubby and I are going to Miami this coming weekend for some sun and fun. I miss you all terribly and now I need to go catch up on all of you because I literally have not been on my blog, let alone anyone else's , in over a week. I hope everyone is well.

Como se Lama?

So, still not a whole lot going on. Getting some projects done, seeing friends and fam, spending time with the pooch, blah blah blah...

Had a very cool day yesterday. I totally got the hook up and got to go see the Dali Lama receive the Congressional Medal of Honor. It was very neat. The Dali Lama was very cute and funny. I've attached some pictures below. Richard Gere and his woman were in the house. The president...oh what can I say? Doesn't he always look confused? Every time I look at him all I can do it laugh because he looks like such a mess. I can just see the word bubbles coming from his head, "uhh...where am I? dude, what am I gonna eat for lunch?"...so sad. Anyway, here are some pic's from the event:

So, last night a friend and ex co-worker of mine did my Astral- Tarot reading...

Now, I'm not overly religious but I also have been taught, and just as a rule for myself, not to really "believe" in that stuff only because I feel like a lot of times people hear their readings and then they try to make things happen that they've been told may be coming into their lives, etc. Some people get a little wrapped up in it and take it way too seriously.

Well, it was really cool. I almost started crying three times. I know, I'm a dork, but some of it was just really nice and reassuring. I was told things about my immediate past and future. I was told things about my work situation. I was told things about my husband and our relationship. Business ventures and money, whether or not I'll have children, etc. I did make it a point to steer clear of and not get any "readings" on my parents, hubby's parents, etc. in terms of health, death, etc. Those are things I just can't deal with, true or not. I don't want that kind of burden on my shoulders whether it happens how/when the cards say or not.

I did ask about my siblings and I found out that my brother and sister-in-law WILL have another child which is hilarious to me because my brother REALLY doesn't want any more and my sister-in-law REALLY does! The funny thing is, without me saying a thing, my card reader told me that they'll have a child "because of something she's not doing, like not taking her birth control or something like that". Hmmmm...I totally see it happening and I will NEVER say a word to my brother about this. We'll just sit back and see if it happens.

So, I told my mom and the hubby all about the reading and I'm gonna keep it all under my hat and just see if any of it comes true. If it does then I'll be a little bit more of a believer. Until then, it was just a fun thing and I enjoyed it a lot. If you have the chance, an open mind and don't take these things TOO seriously then I would do it if I were you!

So, I went on an interview on Friday. It went very well. More later when I know more or hear from them...

This weekend was a lot of fun. I celebrated my birthday AGAIN with another crew of girlfriends. We headed out to some bars in DC and did our thing. Oddly it was a night of "what not to wear's". Seriously, the outfits out that night were hideous. And I know I'm no beauty queen for fashionista but let me tell you, some of these women appear to have no friends, or at least none that are honest with them...At one point, as the drinks were flowing freely, we noticed this chick and I couldn't help but take a picture.

What do you think is going on here? I just couldn't stop laughing. My theory is that she spent the night at her hook up's house the night before and had no shoes (or shirt) to wear out to the bar so she decided to wear his...just down right gnarly. It kind of looks like in the back of the US Weekly how they take pic's of people with no head and show you the "do's" and "dont's". Another chick, who I failed to take a picture of, was wearing a tight fitting, yellow, satin, halter dress with black leggings underneath. It was worse than it sounds...Maybe we were celebrating Halloween a little early in the District this year?

Anyway, we ended up partying for a while then the whole crew came back to our house where we continued the party and had a big old sleep over. It was fun.

Sunday the hubby and I went out for Dim Sum with a friend at a very authentic Chinese restaurant. It was so yummy. I could have probably not eaten again until today.

Yesterday the hubby was off work so it was really nice to spend another day with him. Being the great man that he is, he set up a nice day for us. We went out for lunch at a super cute little Belgian cafe in Georgetown then walked around down town and explored the National Gallery of Art's sculpture garden. It was a lot of fun and I even ended up playing with the camera and taking a lot of funky pic's using the color swap function.

Anyway, that's about all I got. I hope everyone had a nice weekend and happy Tuesday! Oh, and here's a picture of the pooch, Ears McGee, for good measure!

So today is supposed to be my "official" first day of severance/no more work. Just like I thought, I haven't heard a fucking word from the Human Resources dept at my old job. Nice huh? I'm so annoyed but there is nothing I can do but harass them over email and by phone. I guess I have to start the stalking now...

In the same vein, I tried to apply for unemployment on-line 5 times last week and every time it gave me an error message that "the session had timed out". It took me less than 3 minutes each time to insert all of my information and hit submit so I don't know what's up with that but it's pissing me off too. That also means that I have to call them and that is my worst nightmare, well, beyond actually having to go there in person, but still. OY!

I got an awesome new sewing machine for my birthday so while I'm off I plan to work on some bags, etc...I also have a new pair of jeans that I love but they are too long, as are most pants I try on b/c I am SHORT! So I am going to try to hem them with my new fancy machine. I might end up with a pair of jean shorts. HA!

Anyway, it's Monday. That's all I got!
