Oh Happy Day....

Christmas is over...la la la! I SURVIVED!!!

Actually, and I hate to admit this, but this was one of the best Christmas' yet. It may have something to do with having about 2 months off before hand in which time I got all of my shopping and wrapping done. And I have to admit having the hubby and the pooch by my side always makes everything better. I still do hate the two days of endless running around that Christmas Even and Christmas Day provide but the hubby and I had it down to a science this year. We were like the well oiled Christmas machine!

We had everything in piles according to stops for Christmas day. We got the car packed up for stop #1. Loaded the pooch into the car and headed out. Returned to the casa a few hours later, grabbed pile number 2 and put pooch back in the car then headed back out for the next round. Back to the house a few more hours later where we gathered the piles for stop 3 and 4, changed clothes and left the pooch at home. The only bad part of the day was stop #4 - hubby's lovely extended family...where they proceeded to show slide shows/power point presentations of their family trip to Italy that half the people there didn't go on, care about or need to see a thousand photos of. Yeah...that was fun, almost as fun as sticking hot pokers in my ass. Somehow I think that last stop won't be happening next Christmas, at least not if I can help it.

The only thing that I truly hate about Christmas is that you always feel like you don't get to spend enough time with the people that you really want to visit with and that makes me sad. It kills me that I wasted my time on people that could care less if I was there and quite honestly, that I could care less to spend any time with anyway. I guess we have to start having kids to get a say in where we go on Christmas. God, I would have kids for that alone! Maybe I'll start adopting or borrowing some around the holidays then give them back afterward....he he...KIDDING!

Anyway, I hope everyone had a spectacular holiday and looking forward to an even better New Year!!

Welcome Back Cougher!

Well, first week back in the work force and I've apparently managed to catch every germ from every slimy, dirty person in this building. I have the worst sore throat ever. I can't even talk for more than 30 seconds without sounding like I'm crying and my voice is fading, fading, fading...

I literally got home on Wednesday evening close to tears because it hurt so bad to swallow. I currently have a stomach ache from all of the tea I've been drinking and all of the Halls I've been sucking on. I have been eating Advil liquid gels like PEZ and there is still no relief! I'm going to rip my trachea out!!!

This is going to make the holidays GRAND! Oh how I love the holidays as it is, being sick is going to make me an excruciating bitch. My poor husband...

Another reason working is just DUMB!

Anyway, I guess the fact that it's Friday is good, except that it feels like it's been 2:30pm for like 75 hours now! Dammit, I'm back to being just another old working stiff...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!

Oh my god, I feel like the biggest jerk for not posting in so long but I have been so busy between getting ready for the holidays and the new job!

I went to NYC with my mom and some other peeps last week to do the "tourist" thing. We saw the Rockette's Christmas show, which, can you believe I've NEVER seen? That is weird to me. My mom used to go every year with her parents when she was little but I've never been once. It was nice to spend the time with my mom. We also did the Rock center/tree/Sax windows thing. After that I was like, get me the hell away from these crowds of Midwestern tourists before I strangle some fanny pack wearing yokel...and I made my mom go to a pub with me that my friends that live in the city love...AWAY from the tourists. It was great and my mom loved it. I knew she would.

Here are a couple of yummy pictures:

WELL...I completed my Christmas shopping a couple of weeks ago, for the most part, just one or two little things to get, and have everything wrapped and under the tree. AND I've started the new job. Yesterday was my first day. So, it's been a little chaotic.

Things are so far, so good. Everyone at the new gig is super cool. This place reminds me a lot of how my old job used to be years ago and that's a very good thing. I'm digging it so far and I'm basically jumping in head first. Already working on some things and can't be happier.

The pooch is adjusting well and I guess I am too. I've been running home at lunch to take her out and play a bit and it's working out just fine.

I should be back to normal and back to posting soon, and most importantly, checking in on all of you. I hope you're all still out there. I miss you all so much!

First Snow

So, they said it was gonna snow in the morning yesterday...it did

AND, They said it was gonna stop snowing by early afternoon...it didn't

It literally snowed all day and all night yesterday. And it was cold. So freakin cold. I swear this meteorology "science" needs to be bundled in with the likes of the tarot card readers and fortune tellers. Where do they get their info? I'm still actually really, really shocked that it actually snowed. It NEVER snows around here when they say it's going to. We're usually caught completely off guard and then everyone freaks out...

Now, with all that said, it sure is nice not having to go anywhere when it snows! I am DREADING starting my new job! Not only is it going to be, well...a job, but I am not sure how I'm going to handle being away from my pooch! Since we've had her I have pretty much been home. She rarely gets left in her crate for long periods of time. This is going to be a huge adjustment for her and I alike. So sad. My little baby...

So, I'm glad that I got to spend yesterday with my little Lucy and we got to experience her first snow together. We even took a super long walk last night and she played and jumped around and loved every minute of it!

Anyway, here are some shots of our first "light" snow. I didn't include any of the pic's I took in the evening so you can't really tell that in the morning you can still see leaves on the ground and by later in the afternoon - you know, when it never stopped snowing - we had close to 4 inches. You'll have to take my word for it.

So we had a very Norman Rockwell weekend. On Saturday the hubby, our sister and brother-in-law and I all went to a Christmas tree farm and cut down trees. We brought hot cider and other goodies and had a very nice day. I think we've started a new tradition. I can't wait to do it again next year.

We picked out a great tree. I have to admit there were a lot of trees that looked very dead in the middle due to the major drought we had here this year but we managed to get a good looking one. I think it's perfect. My manly husband cut the tree down with ease and the farm that we were at had a very good system. You drag your cut tree to the end of the little lane and a tractor comes and collects it. They staple a number to it and give you the other end and then you "claim" your tree when you get up to the farm house.

We brought our tree home and introduced the pooch. She was oddly well behaved and only chewed on the branches for a short time until she realized that not only did they not taste very good, the needles probably didn't feel so great in her mouth either...Now, if we can get her to stop drinking the water we'll be okay.

We were exhausted on Saturday evening and I was suffering from the worst cramps I've had since probably high school so we stayed in and decorated our tree. It looks so pretty! I'm pretty much done with my Christmas shopping so I got all of my gifts wrapped and under the tree last night. It looks so pretty! Wow, I might actually enjoy Christmas this year...Doubtful!

Here are some pic's of TSO cutting our tree and then our tree decorated....
